Principles for Responsible Investment

New Forests is a signatory to the United Nation Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). The PRI are a suite of voluntary and aspirational environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) investment principles developed by institutional investors, the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative and the UN Global Compact in 2005. There are now over 700 asset owner, investment manager and professionals service partner signatories. New Forests' participation acknowledges that ESG practices are integral to responsible investment and can positively impact investment performance.

New Forests' investment policies reflect many of the same ESG principles that the PRI promotes, and as a signatory, we are committed to working toward fully integrating the Principles into all our business practices. The Principles include:

  • Incorporating ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes
  • Being active owners and incorporating ESG issues into ownership policies and practices
  • Seeking appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest
  • Promoting acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry
  • Working with peers to enhance effectiveness in implementing the Principles
  • Reporting on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles
New Forests aims to report on its progress toward implementing the Principles as part of the PRI's reporting and assessment process in early 2011.

New Forests is also a member of the Association for Sustainable and Responsible Investment in Asia.
