New Forests' first client is a sustainable investment fund focused on investing in sustainable plantation forestry with exposures to voluntary and Kyoto carbon markets. This experience has enabled the company to conceptualize similar funds with other partners around the world with the potential to act as an asset manager and as a fund coordinator on behalf of investors.
There is also an opportunity to develop vehicles that are specifically focused on aggregating environmental credits, particularly carbon and biodiversity conservation credits for voluntary transactions. New Forests can design these "eco credit funds" by defining funding structures, modelling transactions and analysing market demand.
