Asia Pacific
New Forests’ tropical forest program invests in sustainable forestry assets in the Asia Pacific region. The thesis focuses on greenfield timber plantations, existing rubberwood and timber plantations and mixed land-use areas, including reduced emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD). Targeting investment opportunities in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, the Philippines, and the Pacific Islands, New Forests is positioned to provide clients with exposure to rapidly growing Asian markets, particularly for high-value tropical hardwoods. As with all New Forests investments, the Asia and Pacific islands assets are managed in accordance with New Forests’ social and environmental policy.
The New Forests Asia team oversees environmental investments in the region, including a REDD project in Papua, Indonesia and the Malua Wildlife Habitat Conservation Bank. Investment demand for REDD projects in Asia continues to grow, and potential project proponents or interested parties may contact New Forests.
