United States
Legislation currently being developed in the U.S. suggests a multi-billion dollar carbon market is on the horizon. New Forests is working with regulated entities and investors looking for early credit positions. Forest-based credits are especially attractive because of existing voluntary accounting methodologies that are expected to be eligible for early action in the U.S. and California compliance markets and because of the significant focus on forestry offsets in early versions of legislation. For more details, please see New Forests’ discussion of domestic and international forestry offsets credits in U.S. compliance markets. Interested investors or project developers can contact New Forests.
Additionally, New Forests currently co-manages an eco products fund focused on carbon and biodiversity investments primarily in the U.S. and has worked with advisory clients seeking exposure to U.S. market. This work has provided experience structuring environmental investments and working with carbon accounting methodologies and protocols. New Forests also contributes to policy development, providing input to revisions of the California Forest Carbon Protocols under the Climate Action Reserve (CAR) and nationally through industry groups and direct work with NGOs and Congressional staff.
