United States
New Forests co-manages the Eco Products Fund, investing in US forest carbon as well as conservation and mitigation banking instruments, which mitigate impacts to threatened species and wetlands, respectively. Value is created by developing carbon or biodiversity credits in accordance with rule sets developed by regulatory bodies, such as the US Army Corps of Engineers for mitigation banking and the Fish & Wildlife Service for conservation banking. Presently, carbon activity is primarily focused on regulations being developed by the California Air Resources Board in line with emission reduction requirements that take force in 2012.
The New Forests US team also works with a limited number of advisory clients to develop forest carbon products and investment strategies aligned with emerging legislation in California, the US and internationally. REDD is a particular area of expertise, supporting client work primarily in Indonesia and Brazil.
