Brian Shillinglaw
Manager, Policy and Regulatory Affairs
Brian Shillinglaw manages policy and regulatory affairs at New Forests. Brian's recent work at New Forests includes advocacy on forest carbon policy in regional and U.S. federal settings, leading the development of an aggregated forest carbon project for smaller landowners in Northern California and working in a consortium led by the Trust for Public Land on unlocking the conservation finance potential of the Clean Water State Revolving Fund system. Prior to joining New Forests, Brian focused his graduate and legal training on conservation finance, transactional structures for land conservation and legal vehicles for community-based natural resource management. Brian holds an A.B. in Social Studies from Harvard University, a J.D. from Stanford Law School and a M.S. from the Interdisciplinary Program on Environment and Resources at Stanford University. He has also undertaken doctoral studies in historical ecology at Yale University. Brian is based in San Francisco, and he is a member of the State Bar of California.
