Kay Kallweit
Manager, Carbon Programs
Kay Kallweit is responsible for managing the carbon assets associated with forestry investments. This includes facilitating the accreditation process for existing assets, as well as identifying opportunities within potential acquisitions. Kay also contributes to New Forests' advisory services work, helping clients in Australia and New Zealand to develop innovative ways to market environmental assets such as biodiversity or water quality improvements. With 10 years of experience in the forestry field, Kay has worked on carbon offset and CDM projects, including the Nile Basin Reforestation project in Uganda, the first African CDM A/R project to be registered by the UNFCCC. Prior to joining New Forests, Kay worked for the German Development Bank (DEG) in Mexico with a focus on financing renewable energy and forestry projects. He was also working for the TUV Rheinland, providing validation services to CDM projects. Kay has a Master's of Science in Forest Management from Freiburg University in Germany and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia in Canada. He is based in Sydney.
